I set some Italian youngsters this week a challenge to write a creative short passage about sausages. I didn’t give them anything else to work from just SAUSAGES written on the board, I wanted them to be creative.
Q. Why sausages
A. I don’t know but it was the first thing that came to mind! I think it was just because I like sausages.
Here are two examples:
Oscar Bruno: 16 years old
The complex and sophisticated taste of this trivial, yet hearty meal is poetry in itself. The infinite number of varieties, the infinite number of ways sausages can be served leaves your mind both dazed and confused. Drowning in a sea of tasty possibilities and flying through a smoke of delicious smells, now you are breathing the art of Mother Nature!
Eleonora Ardissone: 16 years old
I arrived home, I was starving so I opened the fridge and I took the first thing I found: two big sausages. They seemed to be looking at me, praying for me not to eat them. At that moment, I felt extremely powerful: I had their lives in my hands. They screamed and shouted inside the microwave but nothing was going to stop me. I bit into one and it stopped shouting. I ripped off its head and it is now dead! The other one was crying and screaming, “I have children in the fridge, please don’t kill them!”
Later my mother arrived home: “Hi, how was your lunch?” … “Really good”, I replied with a smile on my face.
Well i think they were very creative!
